I Swore I’d Write Something Today... So Here’s How I Didn’t
The End of Year Review I Definitely Put Off, Coming January 12th
The deadline for my first newsletter is today and I’ve done absolutely nothing to prepare. I promised myself I’d share something today so I’m sharing how good I’ve been at procrastinating.
Friday December 27th 7:08pm:
I’ve been sick all week. I’m wrapped in a blanket and my nose is swollen and raw. Turi and I are eating dinner and watching this Eva Zu Beck episode. Turi’s also been watching her National Geographic show called Superskilled.
I’m holding a mozzarella stick. I can’t eat a mozzarella stick without thinking of this video.
My mind feels like a mushy little pea brain trying to form thoughts.
After dinner we watched the season 2 finale of Shrinking. I love this show! The writing is funny and real. One moment I’m laughing hysterically and the next I’m holding back tears.
Saturday December 28th:
I can’t remember what happened yesterday. Nothing got done.
Sunday December 29th 10:47am:
Cancelled brunch plans. Lit some incense. Turi announced he was going to make me some disgusting tea. He made a delicious smoothie instead.
12:12pm:
No progress on the newsletter. I picked a camera lens I want to buy. Watched some interviews with the Shrinking cast and Billie Eilish.
3:17pm:
Thinking about how easy it is to waste time. I went down a rabbit hole and was looking up a journalist but what I wanted to see was blocked. Started looking into VPNs.
Added hot water to my tea. Lit a candle. Realized I’ve been trying to work in silence without any music. I still haven’t looked for accommodations in Phoenix.
3:48pm:
I’m starting to think I might never accomplish anything in my life.
3:52pm:
I put on Billie Eilish: Tiny Desk Concert. As soon as I heard her singing "I’m trying my best" the writing started to flow.
I found a few places to potentially stay in Phoenix and Sedona. Really beautiful out of budget boutique desert hotels. One mentioned horseback riding. A 2025 goal I wrote down is horseback riding in the desert. I’m working on being a person who plans (and executes) things.
Take care and I’ll connect with you in the new year.
